Try sipping on this hot chocolate made with dark chocolate and a hint of orange. Instead of adding sugar, rely on the sweetness of the chocolate for a true chocolate lover’s cup of comfort.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk (or milk of choice)
  • 2 teaspoons zest from medium orange
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

  1. In a small pot, combine the cold milk and orange zest. Place over medium-low heat and gently heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not boil. Turn off the heat and let stand for about 5 minutes.
  2. Strain into a glass, discard the orange zest, then return the milk to the pan. Place the pan over medium-low heat until warm, then whisk in the chopped chocolate. Continue whisking slowly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth and frothy.

Serving Suggestion

Don’t let that orange go to waste! Peel it and enjoy a juicy orange alongside your hot chocolate.
