Texican Buffalo Burgers

These spiced up burgers with a spicy cream cheese filling make a delicious statement.

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1 pound ground buffalo (or lean hamburger)
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage (or lean hamburger)
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons canned green chilies, diced
  • 1 small jalapeno, minced
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1/2 lime, zest and juice

Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons canned green chiles, diced
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning

Preparation

  1. In a medium bowl, combine all burger ingredients and mix well.
  2. In a small bowl, combine all filling ingredients and mix well.
  3. Divide the burger mix into 8 equal portions and form into thin patties. Place 2 tablespoons filling in the center of one patty and top with another patty, making sure edges are filled in.
  4. Grill over medium heat/low flame to desired doneness. Remove from grill and let rest a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with pico de gallo on a toasted sourdough bun.
